The easiest way to download Facebook videos is to copy the video link from the Share menu, paste it into Fistty’s Facebook video downloader, and choose HD or SD. The MP4 saves directly to your phone or computer. It is free, there is no app to install, no login, and it works on iPhone, Android, Windows, and Mac.
This guide covers the exact steps, how to get the link from every part of Facebook (feed, Watch, Reels, groups, pages), how to pick the right quality, and what to do about videos that will not download.
Download it now with Fistty. Paste the link, tap Download. No app, no login, free.
How to download a Facebook video online with Fistty
- Copy the video link. In the Facebook app, find the video in your feed and tap the Share button under it (the curved arrow). A sheet slides up. Tap Copy link. If you do not see it, tap More options first. On a computer, click the three dots in the top right of the post and choose Copy link, or copy the URL from the address bar while the video is open.
- Open Fistty. Go to fistty.com/download-facebook-videos in any browser.
- Paste the link. Tap or click inside the box at the top and paste. Facebook links can look very different from each other: facebook.com/watch?v=, facebook.com/share/v/, fb.watch/, facebook.com/reel/, or a long /videos/ link. Fistty accepts all of them.
- Tap Download. Fistty fetches the video and shows the formats available.
- Choose HD or SD. Facebook usually offers two versions: HD (720p or 1080p) and SD (360p or lower). Tap HD for the best picture or SD to save data.
- Save the file. On Android, the video goes to your Downloads folder and appears in Gallery. On iPhone, Safari puts it in the Files app under Downloads; tap it, then tap Share and Save Video to move it to Photos. On a computer, it goes to your Downloads folder.
Done. You now have a normal MP4 file that plays in any video app and can be shared on WhatsApp or kept for offline viewing.
Where to find the link for every type of Facebook video
Facebook has several video surfaces, and the Share button sits in a slightly different place on each. Here is where to look.
News feed videos
The Share button is directly under the post, next to Like and Comment. Tap it, then Copy link.
Facebook Watch
Open the video full screen. The Share icon is below the video on the right, next to the comment bubble. Tap it and choose Copy link. The link usually starts with fb.watch.
Reels
Swipe to the Reel. On the right edge, under the Like and Comment icons, tap the Share arrow and then Copy link. Reels download the same way as normal videos; our dedicated guide to downloading Facebook Reels has more tips.
Videos in groups and on pages
These work the same as feed videos, as long as the group is public. If the group is private, see the section on private videos below.
Videos sent in Messenger
A video shared in Messenger as a link to a Facebook post can be downloaded by opening the link and copying it. A video uploaded directly into a chat is not on Facebook’s public servers in the same way; long-press it in Messenger and tap Save instead.
HD vs SD: which should you choose?
Facebook compresses every upload, so “HD” on Facebook means 720p or 1080p depending on what the uploader posted. “SD” is typically 360p or 480p.
| Option | Typical resolution | Size for a 3-minute video | Pick it when |
|---|---|---|---|
| HD | 720p–1080p | 40–120 MB | You want the best picture, or you are on Wi-Fi |
| SD | 360p–480p | 10–30 MB | You are on mobile data, or the video is for WhatsApp |
If the video was uploaded in low quality in the first place, you will only see SD. Fistty cannot invent pixels that are not there. Also note that many Facebook videos are recorded on phones and uploaded over mobile data, so the HD version may still look soft. That is the source file, not the download.
If you want sharper footage from a page that also posts on YouTube, check their YouTube channel and use Fistty’s YouTube downloader, where 1080p and above are more common.
Why Fistty instead of a Facebook downloader app
- No install. Downloader apps from the Play Store often ask for broad permissions and show full-screen ads. Fistty is a website, so nothing touches your phone’s storage except the video you choose.
- No login. Fistty never asks for your Facebook email or password. Any tool that does is a serious risk to your account. Our privacy policy explains what we do and do not collect.
- Works everywhere. The same page works on an itel phone in Lagos, an iPhone in London, and a laptop in Accra. Nothing to update.
- Clean MP4. Fistty does not stamp its logo on the file.
- Free in 2026. No daily limit, no premium tier for HD.
Videos that cannot be downloaded (and why)
Being honest about this saves you time.
- Private or friends-only videos. If a video is visible only to friends, or inside a private group, Fistty cannot see it, and neither can any other online downloader. Facebook only serves the file to people who are logged in with permission. The only way is to ask the person who posted it to send you the file or change the privacy setting to Public.
- Live videos still streaming. Wait until the live ends and Facebook publishes the replay, then copy the link again.
- Stories. Facebook Stories disappear after 24 hours and do not have a normal share link, so they cannot be fetched.
- Deleted videos. If the link opens to “This content isn’t available”, the video is gone.
If a public video still refuses to download, check that you copied the full link, clear your browser cache, and try again. Chrome on Android sometimes blocks the file with a notice in the notification shade; tap it and choose Download anyway.
Downloading Facebook videos on a computer
On Windows, Mac, or a Chromebook, the steps are the same but faster. Open the video on facebook.com, click the three dots in the top-right corner of the post, and choose Copy link. If the video is playing full screen in Watch, you can simply copy the address from the browser bar. Paste it into Fistty, click HD or SD, and the file appears in your Downloads folder. Chrome and Edge show it at the bottom of the window or in the download icon at the top right; Firefox shows a small arrow in the toolbar.
A tip for people who save many videos: right-click the HD button on Fistty and choose Save link as. This lets you name the file and pick a folder before the download starts, instead of sorting through a Downloads folder full of files with random names.
One more thing to know about desktop browsers: ad blockers and privacy extensions sometimes stop any download that opens in a new tab. Fistty does not need pop-ups, but if clicking HD does nothing, pause the extension for fistty.com/ and try again.
Downloading Facebook videos on your phone
The steps above work on every device, but each phone has small differences in where the file lands and how to move it to your camera roll. We have written separate guides for downloading Facebook videos on iPhone and downloading Facebook videos on Android. If you use the lightweight app, see our guide to downloading videos from Facebook Lite.
A quick word on copyright
Downloading a Facebook video to watch offline, keep a memory, or share privately with a friend is generally fine. Re-uploading someone else’s video to your own page, channel, or business account as if you made it can violate Facebook’s terms and copyright law. If you are a creator and your content is being misused, Fistty responds to notices through our DMCA page.

Frequently asked questions
How can I download a Facebook video for free?
Copy the video link from the Share menu, paste it into fistty.com/download-facebook-videos, and tap Download. Choose HD or SD and the MP4 saves to your device. No app or login is needed.
Can I download Facebook videos in HD?
Yes. Fistty shows an HD option (720p or 1080p) whenever the uploader posted in HD. If only SD appears, the original video was uploaded in low quality.
Can I download a private Facebook video?
No. Private, friends-only, and private group videos cannot be fetched by any online downloader. Ask the poster to send you the file or make the video public.
Where does a downloaded Facebook video go?
On Android it goes to the Downloads folder and your Gallery. On iPhone it goes to the Files app under Downloads, and you can save it to Photos from there.
Is it safe to use an online Facebook video downloader?
It is safe as long as the site never asks for your Facebook login and does not make you install anything. Fistty does neither.
Can I download Facebook Reels and Watch videos too?
Yes. Reels, Watch videos, and feed videos all use the same Fistty page. Just copy the link and paste it.
