How to download a Facebook video on Android with Fistty

  1. Copy the video link. Open the Facebook app and find the video. Under the post, tap the Share button (the curved arrow next to Comment). A sheet slides up from the bottom. Tap Copy link. For Reels, swipe to the Reel and tap the Share arrow on the right edge of the screen, then Copy link. For Watch videos, the Share icon is under the player.
  2. Open Fistty in your browser. Switch to Chrome, Samsung Internet, Opera, or any browser and go to fistty.com/download-facebook-videos.
  3. Paste the link. Long-press inside the box at the top of the page and tap Paste. The link may look like fb.watch/xyz, facebook.com/share/v/, facebook.com/reel/, or facebook.com/watch?v=. All of these work.
  4. Tap Download. Fistty reads the video and shows the available versions in a few seconds.
  5. Choose HD or SD. Tap HD (720p or 1080p) for the best quality or SD (360p or 480p) for a smaller file. Chrome shows a Downloading bar at the bottom.
  6. Open the video. When the bar says Download complete, tap Open. The file is saved in Internal storage > Download and appears in your Gallery (or Google Photos) under the Download album.

That is all. There is no account, no password, and no limit on how many videos you save.

Where the video is saved on different Android phones

Every Android browser saves to the same Download folder by default, but each brand has its own file manager and gallery, so the names differ.

Phone brand File manager app Where to look
Samsung My Files My Files > Downloads, or Gallery > Albums > Download
Infinix / Tecno / itel Files (or File Manager) Files > Downloads, or Gallery > Albums > Download
Xiaomi / Redmi / POCO File Manager File Manager > Downloads, or Gallery > Albums > Download
Google Pixel and stock Android Files by Google Files > Downloads, or Google Photos > Library > Download
Oppo / Realme / OnePlus File Manager File Manager > Downloads, or Photos > Albums > Download

If the Gallery does not show the video right away, it just has not scanned the folder yet. Open the file manager, tap the video, and it plays. Restarting the Gallery app also refreshes the list. If you want the file on your SD card, long-press it in the file manager, tap Move, and pick the SD card.

HD or SD: choosing a quality for your data plan

Facebook videos come in two versions. HD is 720p or 1080p; SD is 360p or 480p. Here is a practical way to decide.

  • On Wi-Fi: choose HD. The extra size does not cost you anything.
  • On mobile data: choose SD for anything you only want to watch once or forward on WhatsApp. WhatsApp compresses videos anyway, so HD is wasted there.
  • Keeping a memory: choose HD so it still looks good on a bigger screen later.
  • Low storage phone (32 GB): SD, and delete videos you have already watched.

As a rough guide, a 3-minute Facebook video is about 10–30 MB in SD and 40–120 MB in HD. If you are in Nigeria on MTN, Airtel, or Glo, downloading in HD during a night bundle and watching in the day is a good way to save your main data. Our guide to the best video downloader for Nigerians has more data-saving tips.

If Fistty only offers SD for a video, that is because the uploader posted it in low quality. Facebook does not keep an HD version that was never uploaded.

Android-specific tips

Allow the download if Chrome blocks it

Chrome sometimes shows a notification saying Download blocked or This file may be harmful. It is a generic warning for media files from sites Chrome has not seen before on your phone. Pull down the notification shade, tap the message, and tap Download anyway. You will usually only see this once.

Check storage permission

If downloads fail without any message, Chrome may not have permission to write files. Go to Settings > Apps > Chrome > Permissions > Files and media (or Storage) and turn it on.

Add Fistty to your home screen

Open the Fistty Facebook page in Chrome, tap the three-dot menu, and choose Add to Home screen. Next time, you tap the icon and paste. It feels like an app without using storage or asking for permissions.

Facebook Lite users

Facebook Lite has the same Share and Copy link option, and the steps are identical. If you only see “Share to” options, tap More or Copy. We have a dedicated post on downloading videos from Facebook Lite.

Opera Mini data saver

Opera Mini’s extreme data-saving mode can block or corrupt large downloads. Switch it to High or Off for the download, then back on.

Sharing to WhatsApp status

After the video is in your Gallery, open WhatsApp, tap Status, tap the camera or gallery icon, and pick the video. WhatsApp will ask you to trim anything longer than the current status limit. If you plan to do this often, download in SD; WhatsApp compresses the video again anyway, so the HD version gives no extra benefit on status.

Videos Fistty cannot download

Here is the honest list. No online downloader, including Fistty, can fetch these:

  • Private or friends-only videos. Facebook only shows them to approved people who are logged in. Fistty never asks for your login, so it only sees public videos. Ask the poster to send you the file.
  • Videos inside private groups. Same reason as above.
  • Stories. They do not have a shareable link and vanish after 24 hours.
  • Live broadcasts that are still running. Wait for the replay to be published.
  • Deleted videos. If the link says the content is not available, it is gone.

Anything public, including videos from pages, public groups, Watch, and Reels, downloads normally. If you also have an iPhone, the process is slightly different; see how to download Facebook videos on iPhone.

Why a website beats a downloader app in 2026

Play Store downloader apps often ask for permissions they do not need, interrupt you with full-screen ads, and break when Facebook changes its layout. Some even ask you to log in to Facebook inside the app, which puts your account at risk. Fistty is a plain website that is updated on the server, so it keeps working without you updating anything, never asks for a password, and does not stamp a logo on your video. You can read our privacy policy for details on what we do not collect.

Finally, saving videos for yourself is generally fine, but re-uploading someone else’s work as your own can break Facebook’s rules and copyright law. Creators can reach us through the DMCA page.
