How to download a TikTok video in Nigeria with Fistty

  1. Copy the link in TikTok. Open the video and tap the Share arrow on the right side of the screen, under the comment bubble. In the row of icons that appears, swipe to find Copy link and tap it. TikTok shows a short “Copied” message.
  2. Open Fistty’s TikTok downloader. Switch to Chrome, Opera Mini or whatever browser you use and go to Fistty’s TikTok downloader. The page is light, so it opens quickly even on 3G.
  3. Paste the link. Tap and hold inside the box and choose Paste. Links that start with vm.tiktok.com, vt.tiktok.com or www.tiktok.com all work.
  4. Tap Download. Fistty reads the video and shows the options.
  5. Choose No watermark at 480p or 720p. This is the step that saves your data. The lower option is sharp enough for a phone screen and for WhatsApp, and it is far smaller than the HD file. Only pick the highest quality when you are on Wi-Fi.
  6. Find the file. The video lands in your Downloads folder and appears in Gallery or Photos within a few seconds. On Infinix and Tecno phones it also shows in the Downloads section of the built-in File Manager. On iPhone it goes to the Files app under Downloads.

How much data does a TikTok download really use?

Downloading a video uses about the same data as watching it once from start to finish. The difference is what happens next. When you scroll past the same clip again, or rewatch it, TikTok streams it again and you pay again. A downloaded file plays from your phone for free.

Size depends on length and quality. As a rough guide, a one-minute TikTok at 480p is often under 10 MB, at 720p it can be around 15 to 25 MB, and in the highest quality it can pass 40 MB. Those numbers vary from video to video, but the pattern holds: the top quality costs several times more data than 480p for a difference you will struggle to see on a 6-inch screen.

Put it in Naira. If your 1.5 GB bundle costs about ₦1,000, every 100 MB is worth roughly ₦65. Ten HD downloads can quietly take ₦250 of data, while the same ten clips at 480p take under ₦70. Over a month that gap is real money.

Seven ways to download TikToks without finishing your bundle

1. Turn on Data Saver inside TikTok

Open your TikTok profile, tap the three lines at the top right, choose Settings and privacy, then Data Saver, and turn it on. TikTok will stream lower-quality video while you scroll, so you spend less data finding the clips you want to keep.

2. Use the night bundle for big downloads

MTN, Airtel, Glo and 9mobile each sell cheaper night or weekend bundles. Save your TikTok links during the day by copying them into a WhatsApp chat with yourself, then download everything in one sitting at night.

3. Download once and share the file

If your friends or family group will all want the same clip, one person downloads it and forwards the file on WhatsApp. Forwarding a file is cheaper than everyone streaming it separately.

4. Use Wi-Fi when you find it

An office, a school, a church or a friend’s router works. Queue up your links and download them while connected.

5. Stop background apps from eating data

On Android, go to Settings, then Network or Data usage, and look at which apps use the most. Turn off background data for apps you do not need, so the bundle goes to what you actually use.

6. Use a browser with data compression

Opera Mini and Chrome’s Lite mode compress web pages. The Fistty page itself then uses very little data. The video file is not compressed by the browser, so your quality choice still matters most.

7. Pick 480p for WhatsApp status

WhatsApp compresses every status video anyway, so a 1080p download looks almost the same as 480p once posted. See our guide on downloading TikTok videos for WhatsApp status.

Why not just use TikTok’s own Save video button?

TikTok has a Save video option in the Share menu, and it is free to use. It has three problems. First, the saved file carries the moving TikTok watermark with the creator’s username. Second, many creators turn off downloads, so the button is missing on exactly the videos you want. Third, TikTok saves at a quality it chooses, so you cannot pick a smaller file to protect your data.

Fistty fixes all three. It gives you a clean file with no watermark, it works on any public video, and it lets you choose the size. There is no app to install, which also matters on a 32 GB phone, and you never log in or give a password. Fistty is a website, so there is nothing to update and nothing running in the background.

Fixing downloads on Nigerian networks

Networks in Nigeria can be slow at busy hours, and a download that stalls can waste data. These checks solve most problems.

  • The download stops halfway. Your signal probably dropped. Switch between 4G and 3G in network settings, move closer to a window, and try again. Choose 480p so the file finishes faster.
  • The Fistty page will not open. Check that you still have data by opening another site. If your bundle is finished, you will usually land on the network’s top-up page instead.
  • The video is private. If the creator set the video to friends only, or the account is private, no online tool can download it. Fistty will tell you it could not fetch the video.
  • The link opens TikTok instead of pasting. You tapped the link. Tap and hold inside the Fistty box instead and choose Paste.
  • It downloaded but will not play. Wait for the download to finish fully. Check the Downloads folder in your File Manager and make sure the file size is not zero.

Is it okay to download TikTok videos?

Saving a public TikTok to watch offline or share with friends on WhatsApp is normal use. Re-uploading someone else’s video to your own account as your own content can break TikTok’s rules and copyright law, so give credit or ask the creator if you plan to repost. Fistty’s DMCA page explains how rights holders can contact us.

In 2026 data is still one of the biggest monthly costs for Nigerian phone users. Downloading smart, at 480p or 720p and on cheaper bundles, means you keep the videos you love without watching your balance disappear.
