To download a video on Android and save it to Gallery, copy the link from TikTok, YouTube, Facebook or Instagram, paste it into Fistty in Chrome, tap Download and pick a quality. Chrome saves the MP4 to the Downloads folder, and Android’s media scanner adds it to Gallery or Google Photos within a few seconds. No app, no login, no watermark on TikTok.
Download it now with Fistty. Paste the link, tap Download. No app, no login, free.
How to download a video on Android and find it in Gallery
The example below uses a YouTube link, but the same steps work for every platform. Only the Fistty page changes.
- Copy the link in the app. In YouTube, tap Share under the video and tap Copy link. In TikTok, tap the Share arrow on the right and choose Copy link. In Facebook, tap the three dots at the top of the post and tap Copy link. In Instagram, tap the paper-plane icon on a Reel and tap Copy link.
- Open the right Fistty page in Chrome. Go to Fistty’s YouTube downloader, TikTok downloader, Facebook downloader or Instagram downloader. For X, Snapchat or Telegram links, use the box on the home page. Samsung Internet, Opera and Firefox work too.
- Paste the link and tap Download. Long-press the box, tap Paste, then tap Download. Fistty shows a preview and the quality options.
- Choose a quality. Tap 720p for a good balance, 1080p for the sharpest copy, or 480p if you are on a small data bundle. The file size is shown next to each option.
- Allow the permission if asked. The first time, Chrome may show “Allow Chrome to access photos and media on your device?” Tap Allow. Some phones also ask “Download file?” with the file name; tap Download. Without this permission the download fails silently, so do not tap Deny.
- Watch the download bubble. Chrome shows a small bubble at the bottom of the screen with a progress ring, then “Download complete”. Tap Open to play it, or swipe down the notification shade and tap the download notification.
- Find it in Gallery. Open Gallery (or Google Photos on Pixel and many other phones). The video appears in Recents or in an album called Download or Downloads. If you cannot see it yet, wait a moment and pull down to refresh.
Where do downloaded videos go on Android?
Every browser saves to the same place by default: the Downloads folder on internal storage. The full path is Internal storage → Download. Gallery does not store files itself. It scans folders that contain photos and videos and shows them in albums. That is why a video in Download appears in Gallery as a “Download” album.
| Browser | Default folder | Where to see it |
|---|---|---|
| Chrome | Internal storage → Download | Gallery or Google Photos → Download album; Files app → Downloads |
| Samsung Internet | Internal storage → Download | Samsung Gallery → Albums → Download; My Files → Downloads |
| Opera / Opera Mini | Internal storage → Download (or a folder you chose) | Gallery; Opera’s own Downloads tab |
| Firefox | Internal storage → Download | Gallery; Firefox menu → Downloads |
| Any browser, SD card set as storage | SD card → Download | Gallery (may be slower to update); Files app → SD card |
If you want downloads to land in a different folder, open Chrome → three dots → Settings → Downloads. You can change the Download location to the SD card on phones that have one, and turn on Ask where to save files so you pick a folder each time. For a longer explanation across both platforms, see Where Do Downloaded Videos Go on My Phone?.
Video not showing in Gallery? Try these
The download finished, Chrome said “complete”, but Gallery is empty. This is common and almost always one of the following.
- Give it a minute. Android’s media scanner runs in the background. On a budget phone it can take 30 to 60 seconds to notice a new file. Close Gallery fully and open it again.
- Check the Files app. Open Files (Files by Google, My Files on Samsung, or File Manager on Infinix, Tecno and itel). Go to Downloads. If the video is there, the download worked and only Gallery is behind. Tap the video to play it, or long-press and choose Move to put it in DCIM or Movies, which Gallery scans immediately.
- Look for a .nomedia file. Some cleaner apps drop a hidden file called .nomedia in Download. It tells Gallery to ignore that folder. Delete it with a file manager that shows hidden files, then restart the phone.
- Check Gallery’s hidden albums. Samsung Gallery has Albums → three dots → Hide or unhide albums. Make sure Download is not hidden.
- Confirm the file extension. The file must end in .mp4. If it ends in .bin or has no extension, rename it to video.mp4 in the Files app and Gallery will pick it up. If it is .webm or .m4a, go back to Fistty and choose an MP4 row instead.
- Clear Gallery cache. Settings → Apps → Gallery → Storage → Clear cache. This forces a fresh scan. It does not delete any media.
- Google Photos only shows device folders you allow. In Google Photos, tap your profile → Photos settings → Back up → Back up device folders, or open Library → Photos on device and look for the Download folder.
If nothing downloaded at all, the problem is earlier in the chain. Read How to Download Videos in Chrome on Android for permission and setting fixes, or the general troubleshooting guide.
Saving data on Android downloads
Most Android users in Nigeria, Ghana, India and similar markets are on a daily or weekly bundle. A few habits keep the cost down.
- Pick 480p or 720p for phone viewing. A 60-second clip is about 5 MB at 480p, 10 MB at 720p and 20 MB at 1080p. On a 6.5-inch screen, 720p looks sharp enough for almost everything.
- Download on Wi-Fi when you can. Queue the links you want and download them when you are on a hotspot or office Wi-Fi.
- Use night bundles for big files. If your network sells a night data plan, that is the time for 1080p or long YouTube videos.
- Turn on Chrome Lite mode or Data Saver only for browsing. It does not shrink a video download, so it is fine to leave on, but it will not help here.
- Delete what you have watched. Downloads pile up fast. Clear the Download folder every few weeks from the Files app.

Sharing the downloaded video to WhatsApp status
Once the video is in Gallery, open WhatsApp → Updates → tap the camera or the + next to My status, then choose the clip from Gallery. WhatsApp trims statuses to 60 seconds in most regions and compresses the file, so a 720p download is more than enough. If you want to send the original quality to a friend, send it as a Document instead of a video.
Safety and rules
Fistty is a website, so there is no APK to install and nothing asking for storage access except your own browser. It never asks for a password. Downloading a public video for your own offline viewing is generally fine; re-uploading someone else’s video as your own may break platform rules and copyright law. Private, friends-only or protected posts cannot be fetched by any online tool. On iPhone the process is different because Safari saves to Files rather than Photos; see How to Download Videos on iPhone if you switch devices.
