How to Repost TikTok Videos to Instagram Reels Without the Watermark

Instagram reduces the reach of Reels that carry a visible TikTok logo. Download a clean copy of your TikTok through Fistty, then upload it to Reels like any other video. This guide covers the steps, the quality settings and the rules on reposting.

To post a TikTok to Instagram Reels without the watermark, copy the TikTok link from Share → Copy link, paste it into Fistty’s TikTok downloader, and download the HD MP4. The file has no TikTok logo or username. Open Instagram, tap the plus button, choose Reel, pick the video from your gallery and post. No app to install, and the whole thing takes about two minutes.

Download it now with Fistty. Paste the link, tap Download. No app, no login, free.

How to move a TikTok video to Instagram Reels on Fistty

If you save a video inside the TikTok app, it comes with the moving TikTok logo and your username stamped on it. Instagram has said openly that Reels with a visible watermark from another app are shown to fewer people. That is why creators download a clean copy first. Here is the full process in 2026, on iPhone or Android.

  1. Open the video in TikTok and tap the Share arrow on the right side. If it is your own video, you can also open it from your profile.
  2. Tap Copy link. It is the first icon in the row that slides up. You will see “Copied” on screen.
  3. Open Fistty. Go to Fistty’s TikTok downloader in Safari or Chrome. Long-press the box, tap Paste, then tap Download.
  4. Choose the highest quality offered. Reels are compressed again by Instagram, so start with the sharpest file you can get, usually 1080p. The watermark-free option is the default.
  5. Save the file to your phone. On Android it lands in Downloads and shows in Gallery. On iPhone it goes to the Files app under Downloads; open it, tap Share and choose Save Video so it appears in Photos, which is where Instagram looks.
  6. Upload to Reels. Open Instagram, tap the + button, choose Reel, select the video from your gallery, add your caption and audio choice, and tap Share.

That is it. The Reel plays as a normal Instagram video, with no sign that it started life on TikTok. If you post on both platforms regularly, keep a folder of clean downloads so you can schedule Reels later without repeating the steps each time.

Why the watermark matters on Instagram

Instagram’s own guidance for Reels says that videos which are “visibly recycled from other apps”, with a logo or watermark, are made less discoverable. Instagram does not delete them, but it shows them in fewer Explore and Reels tabs. For a creator trying to grow on both platforms, that is a real cost.

There are two other reasons to remove it:

  • It looks cleaner. The TikTok logo bounces between corners and can cover faces or text in your own video.
  • Your Instagram audience is different. Many of them do not use TikTok and the logo is a distraction.

A quick note on captions. TikTok burns on-screen text into the video when you add it in the TikTok editor, so it will still appear in your Reel. If you want different captions on Instagram, download a version of your video without text, or add the text in Instagram’s editor instead.

The watermark exists because TikTok adds it when you use the in-app Save button. It is a branding tool, not part of the original file. Fistty fetches the version TikTok serves without that overlay, so you are not editing or blurring anything. If you already have a watermarked copy, our guide on how to remove the TikTok watermark compares the options, but downloading a clean copy is always better than cropping.

Quality settings that survive Instagram’s compression

Instagram re-encodes every upload. If you start with a soft file, the Reel comes out softer still. A few settings help.

Setting Recommended Why
Download quality on Fistty 1080p (highest available) Gives Instagram the most detail to work with
Aspect ratio 9:16 (as downloaded) Reels are vertical; do not crop to square
Length Under 90 seconds Standard Reel limit; longer uploads become regular videos
Instagram upload setting Settings → Data usage → Upload at highest quality: On Stops Instagram from compressing on mobile data
Network Wi-Fi Instagram compresses harder on a weak connection

One more tip: Instagram adds a cover frame from the first second of the video. If your TikTok opens with a black frame or a quick cut, choose a better cover from the gallery option on the Reel’s final screen before you post.

If you are on a data bundle and cannot wait for Wi-Fi, a 720p download still looks fine on Reels. Read 720p vs 1080p download to decide. If your downloaded video looks blurry before you upload it, see why a downloaded video is blurry.

Sound: keep the original or swap it

The downloaded MP4 includes the audio exactly as it plays on TikTok. When you upload to Reels, Instagram may recognise a popular song and offer to tag it, which can help your Reel appear on that sound’s page. Two things to watch:

  • Licensed music can be muted. Instagram sometimes mutes Reels that use a commercial song it has not licensed for your account type, especially business accounts. If that happens, re-upload and add the song from Instagram’s own music library.
  • Trending TikTok sounds are not always on Instagram. If the sound is a TikTok original, the Reel will still play it, but you will not get a sound tag. That is fine for most reposts.

If you only want the audio, you can get it with TikTok to MP3, though for a Reel you will normally keep the video and audio together.

Reposting other people’s TikToks: the rules

Everything above is simple when the TikTok is yours. If it belongs to someone else, slow down.

  • Ask first, or credit clearly. Tag the creator in the caption and on the Reel. Many creators are happy to be reposted with credit, and some are not.
  • Do not claim it as yours. Reposting someone’s video without credit can be reported under Instagram’s copyright rules, and repeated reports can get your account restricted.
  • Private videos cannot be downloaded. If the TikTok is from a private account, no tool can fetch it, including Fistty. See what works for private TikTok videos.
  • Collab instead of copy. Instagram’s Collab feature lets you post a Reel jointly with another account, which is the cleanest way to share someone’s work.

Common problems

  1. Instagram does not show the video in the gallery picker (iPhone). The file is still in the Files app. Open Files → Downloads, tap the video, tap Share, then Save Video. It now appears in Photos.
  2. The Reel is cropped. Pinch out on the preview screen to fit the full 9:16 frame, or check that you did not pick a square template.
  3. The Reel uploads at low quality. Turn on “Upload at highest quality” in Instagram’s Data usage settings and upload over Wi-Fi.
  4. Fistty says the link is invalid. Copy it again from the Share menu. Links from the TikTok website also work; just copy the address bar.
  5. The download has no sound. Rare, but it happens with some licensed tracks. Our guide on downloaded videos with no sound explains the fix.

Frequently asked questions

How do I post a TikTok on Instagram Reels without the watermark?

Copy the TikTok link, paste it into Fistty's TikTok downloader and download the HD MP4, which has no logo. Then open Instagram, tap +, choose Reel and upload the file from your gallery.

Does Instagram penalise TikTok watermarks on Reels?

Instagram has said that Reels with a visible watermark from another app are made less discoverable. They are not removed, but they appear in fewer recommendations.

Can I repost someone else's TikTok to Reels?

Only with permission or clear credit. Reposting without credit can be reported under Instagram's copyright rules. Use the Collab feature when you can.

Why does my Reel look blurry after uploading from TikTok?

Instagram compresses every upload. Start with a 1080p download from Fistty, turn on Upload at highest quality in Instagram's settings, and upload over Wi-Fi.

Why can't Instagram find the video on my iPhone?

Safari saved it to the Files app, not Photos. Open Files, find the video in Downloads, tap Share and choose Save Video. It will then show in Instagram's gallery picker.

Will the TikTok sound work on Instagram?

The audio is inside the MP4 and plays normally. Instagram may mute some licensed songs, especially on business accounts. If that happens, add the track from Instagram's music library instead.
