How to Download Twitter (X) Videos Online

X has no save button for videos. Fistty does the job: copy the post link, paste it on the Fistty home page, tap Download. Free, no app, no login, works on any phone or computer.

To download Twitter video from X, tap the Share icon under the post, choose Copy link, paste the link into the box on the Fistty home page, and tap Download. Fistty finds the video inside the post and gives you an MP4 file to save. It is free, works in any browser on iPhone, Android or a computer, and you do not need an app or an X account.

X itself has no download button for videos, which is why people search for this. Fistty fills the gap in under a minute.

Download it now with Fistty. Paste the link, tap Download. No app, no login, free.

How to download a video from X (Twitter) on Fistty

These steps work in the X app and on the x.com website. Both x.com and older twitter.com links are accepted, because they point to the same post.

  1. Copy the post link. Find the post with the video in the X app. Tap the Share icon (the arrow pointing up out of a box) in the row of icons under the post, to the right of the heart and views count. Tap Copy link. On the x.com website, click the same Share icon and choose Copy link. The link looks like x.com/username/status/ followed by a long number.
  2. Open Fistty. Go to https://fistty.com/ in Safari, Chrome, Opera or any browser. There is no separate X page; the home page handles X links along with every other platform.
  3. Paste the link. Tap inside the link box at the top of the page, hold for a second, tap Paste, and then tap the Download button.
  4. Choose the quality. Fistty shows a preview of the video and a list of the resolutions X has stored for it, typically 1080p, 720p and a lower option around 360p or 480p. Tap the one you want. Higher is sharper; lower is smaller.
  5. Save the file. On Android the MP4 goes to the Downloads folder and appears in Gallery or Google Photos. On iPhone, Safari saves it to the Files app under Downloads. Tap the file, tap the Share icon, and choose Save Video to put it in Photos.

The video is now on your device as an ordinary MP4 with no X branding added, because Fistty downloads the original file that was uploaded to the post.

Which X videos you can and cannot download

Fistty only works with videos from public accounts. If the account has a padlock next to its name, its posts are shown only to approved followers, and no online downloader can reach them. This is a hard limit, not a bug, and any site claiming otherwise should be treated with suspicion.

Here are the common cases and what to expect.

Type of post Can Fistty download it? Note
Public post with a native video Yes The standard case. Pick any resolution offered.
Public post with a GIF Yes X stores GIFs as short MP4s, so you get an MP4 that loops like a GIF.
Repost (retweet) of a video Yes Copy the link from the repost or the original; both work.
Reply with a video Yes Open the reply itself and copy its link, not the parent post.
Post with a YouTube link Use the YouTube page The video lives on YouTube. Paste the YouTube link into Fistty’s YouTube downloader.
Protected (private) account No Only approved followers can view. No tool can download these.
Deleted post No Nothing left to fetch.
Live broadcast or Space No Live streams are not stored as a downloadable MP4 while live.

If a public post fails, open the link in your browser first. If X shows the video, copy the link again from the Share icon and retry. For the full list of fixes, see X (Twitter) Video Not Downloading? 7 Fixes.

Choosing the right quality and saving data

X usually keeps three versions of every uploaded video. Fistty shows all of them so you can choose.

  • 1080p is the best X offers. A one-minute clip is roughly 20 to 40 MB. Choose it if you will edit the video or watch it on a TV or laptop.
  • 720p is the sweet spot for a phone screen. The same clip is about 10 to 20 MB. Most people should pick this.
  • 360p or 480p is for slow or expensive connections. The clip drops to 3 to 8 MB but looks soft on a large screen.

Fistty cannot offer a resolution that X does not have. If the person uploaded a 720p video, you will not see a 1080p option, and no downloader can add detail that was never there. Many X videos are also compressed heavily by the platform, so even 1080p from X may look softer than 1080p from YouTube. For tips on getting the sharpest copy, read How to Download X (Twitter) Videos in HD (720p and 1080p).

If you are on mobile data, pick 720p and download on Wi-Fi when you can. In Nigeria and other places with costly bundles, this one choice can halve what a download costs you.

One more thing about sound. Every version Fistty offers includes the original audio track, so you do not need a separate step for that. If you only want the audio, download the lowest resolution to save data and extract the sound in a free editor, or use a platform that offers an MP3 option directly, like Fistty’s YouTube downloader.

Phone-specific notes

iPhone

Safari is the easiest browser for this. After you tap the download button in Fistty, a blue arrow icon appears at the top of the screen. Tap it to see progress, then tap the file to open it. It lives in the Files app under Downloads until you save it to Photos with Share, then Save Video. If you opened Fistty from inside the X app, tap the three dots and choose Open in Safari first, because in-app browsers often cannot save files. The full guide is How to Download X (Twitter) Videos on iPhone.

Android

Chrome saves the file to Downloads straight away and Gallery picks it up. The first time, Chrome may ask for permission to save files; tap Allow. If you are using the X app’s built-in browser, use the menu to open the page in Chrome instead. Brand-by-brand details, including Samsung, Infinix and Tecno, are in How to Download X (Twitter) Videos on Android.

Computer

On Windows or Mac, right-click the box on fistty.com/ and choose Paste, then click Download. The MP4 goes to your browser's Downloads folder. Nothing to install.

Is it allowed to download X videos?

Saving a public video to watch offline, share with a friend, or keep as a reference is generally fine, and X does not block it. Posting someone else’s video as your own, or using it commercially, can break X’s rules and copyright law. Credit the original poster if you share it, or ask them first. Fistty handles takedown requests through its DMCA page.

Two safety points. Fistty never asks you to log in to X or any other account; if a downloader asks for your X password, close it. And Fistty has no app to install, so ignore any pop-up that says you need one. Everything happens in the browser you already use, in 2026 as it always has.
