How to download an X video on Android with Fistty

You need the X app (or x.com in a browser), Chrome or any other browser, and a public post with a video. The steps are the same in Opera, Samsung Internet, Firefox and Edge.

  1. Copy the link in the X app. Open the post with the video. Under it, after the reply, repost, like and views icons, tap the Share icon (an arrow pointing up out of a box). A sheet slides up. Tap Copy link. Android shows a short “Copied to clipboard” message. The link looks like x.com/username/status/ followed by a long number.
  2. Open Fistty in Chrome. Switch to Chrome and go to fistty.com/. There is no separate X page; the home page accepts x.com and twitter.com links along with TikTok, YouTube, Facebook and the rest.
  3. Paste the link. Tap and hold inside the link box until the Paste bubble appears, then tap it. On many phones the link also shows up as a clipboard suggestion above the keyboard; tapping that works too. Then tap Download.
  4. Choose the quality. Fistty shows a preview and the versions X has stored, usually 1080p, 720p and 360p. Tap one. 720p is the best balance for a phone screen and mobile data; 1080p if you will watch on a TV or edit it.
  5. Allow the download if asked. The first time, Chrome may ask for permission to save files or show a bar at the bottom saying “Download fistty video?”. Tap Allow or Download. A notification appears showing progress.
  6. Open it from Gallery or Downloads. When the notification says Download complete, tap it to play. The file is in the Downloads folder and appears in Gallery (or Google Photos) automatically, usually within a few seconds.

Done. The video is an ordinary MP4 with no X branding, because Fistty fetches the original file that was uploaded to the post.

Where the video goes on different Android brands

Every Android phone saves browser downloads to the same place, a folder called Download in internal storage. What differs is which gallery app shows it and how quickly. Here is what to expect.

Phone brand Where to find the video Note
Samsung Gallery, under Albums, then Download; or My Files, then Downloads Gallery may ask whether to use Gallery or Google Photos the first time. Either is fine.
Google Pixel Google Photos, Library, then Download; or Files by Google Photos sometimes takes a minute to index a new folder.
Infinix, Tecno, itel AI Gallery or Gallery, Albums, then Download; or File Manager If Gallery does not show it, open File Manager, Downloads, and tap the file once.
Xiaomi, Redmi, POCO Gallery, Albums, then Download; or File Manager Check that Chrome has the Files and media permission under Settings, Apps.
Oppo, Realme, OnePlus Photos, Albums, then Download Same as above.

If you use Chrome’s own Downloads list (tap the three dots, then Downloads), you can open any saved video from there even if the gallery has not noticed it yet. Saving data: which quality to pick on mobile data

In 2026 most Android users in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and across Africa are still downloading on metered data from MTN, Airtel, Glo or 9mobile. The quality you choose decides how much of your bundle a video eats.

  • 1080p: a one-minute X clip is around 20 to 40 MB. Save this for Wi-Fi or night bundles.
  • 720p: around 10 to 20 MB per minute. Looks sharp on any phone screen. The best default.
  • 360p or 480p: 3 to 8 MB per minute. Choose this on a slow connection or when the bundle is almost finished. The clip looks soft on a large screen but fine on a phone.

Two more habits save data. Turn on Chrome’s Lite mode or your phone’s Data Saver when browsing, but note that some data-saver modes (like Opera Mini’s Extreme mode) can block downloads entirely; switch them off for the one download. And batch your downloads for Wi-Fi or a night data bundle when you have several videos to save. Our guide 720p vs 1080p vs 4K: What Quality Should You Download on Mobile Data? goes deeper.

Android problems and quick fixes

Chrome does not start the download

Most often Chrome lacks the storage permission. Open Android Settings, then Apps, then Chrome, then Permissions, and allow Files and media (called Storage on older Android). Then try again. Full details in How to Download Videos in Chrome on Android.

You opened Fistty inside the X app

Tapping a link inside X opens X’s own built-in browser, which often cannot save files. Tap the three dots in the corner and choose Open in Chrome (or Open in browser), then paste and download there.

The video is in Downloads but not in Gallery

The gallery simply has not scanned the folder yet. Open the Files or My Files app, go to Downloads, and tap the video once. It usually appears in Gallery right after. Restarting the phone also forces a rescan.

Fistty says the video was not found

Open the link in Chrome first. If the account has a padlock or X says the post is unavailable, the video is private or deleted, and no downloader can fetch it. If it is public, copy the link again directly from the Share icon in X rather than from WhatsApp or a note, because messaging apps sometimes attach extra text. The downloaded video has no sound or will not play

Try a different player such as VLC or Google Photos. If the file is only a few kilobytes, the download was cut off; delete it and download again on a steadier connection.

Safety and fair use

Fistty is a website. It never asks you to install an APK, grant accessibility permissions, or sign in to X. If any downloader asks for your X password or pushes an app install, close the tab. Saving a public X video to watch offline is generally fine. Posting it as your own or using it commercially may break X’s rules and copyright, so credit the original poster or ask them. Takedown requests go through Fistty’s DMCA page. If you also have an iPhone, the steps differ slightly and are covered in How to Download X (Twitter) Videos on iPhone.
