To download Instagram Reels without watermark, copy the Reel link from the Share menu, paste it into Fistty’s Instagram downloader, and tap Download. Fistty fetches the original video file, so there is no Instagram logo and no @username stamped on it. It is free, there is no app to install, and you never sign in.
Instagram’s built-in Download button is the one that adds the watermark. If you want a clean copy, you need the original file, and that is exactly what Fistty gives you.
Download it now with Fistty. Paste the link, tap Download. No app, no login, free.
How to download an Instagram Reel without the watermark on Fistty
The whole process takes under a minute on a phone, and it still works the same way in 2026 despite Instagram’s regular app updates. The steps are the same on a laptop, except you right-click to paste. The Reel must be from a public account.
- Open the Reel in Instagram. Tap the Share icon (the paper plane arrow) on the right side of the screen, below the comment bubble. A tray slides up. Tap Copy link. Instagram shows a short “Link copied” message at the bottom.
- Open Fistty. Go to https://fistty.com/download-instagram-videos-and-photos/ in Safari, Chrome, Opera, or any browser you already use.
- Paste the link. Tap inside the link box, hold for a second, and tap Paste. The link will look like instagram.com/reel/ followed by a code. Tap Download.
- Pick the quality. Fistty shows a preview of the Reel with the creator’s name and one or more download options. Choose the highest resolution shown, usually 1080p, for the sharpest copy. Choose a lower one if you are short on data.
- Save the file. On Android the MP4 goes to the Downloads folder and shows up in Gallery or Google Photos within a few seconds. On iPhone, Safari saves it to the Files app under Downloads. Tap the file, tap the Share icon, and choose Save Video to move it into Photos.
- Check the corners. Play the video once. You should see no Instagram logo and no username anywhere in the frame, because you downloaded the original file rather than a copy stamped by the app.
That is all. The Reel is on your phone as a plain MP4 with nothing added to it. You can forward it on WhatsApp, drop it into a video editor, or set it as a status, and nobody will see a stamp telling them where it came from.
Why Instagram puts a watermark on Reels you save
In 2023 Instagram added a Download option to the Share tray on public Reels. Many people were happy to see it. Then they looked at the saved file. Instagram stamps its own logo in one corner and the creator’s @username in the other, and the stamp moves between corners during the clip. This is the same approach TikTok uses, and for the same two reasons.
The first reason is promotion. Every time a saved Reel is forwarded on WhatsApp or posted somewhere else, the logo tells viewers where it came from. The second reason is credit. The username keeps the creator’s name attached to their work even after the video leaves the app.
The result for you is a video with a moving mark that is nearly impossible to crop out cleanly. It also looks obviously reposted if you use it on another platform. Fistty avoids the problem completely. It does not remove or blur a watermark; it simply downloads the original file that the creator uploaded, before Instagram adds any overlay. If a creator put their own logo inside the video when they edited it, that will still be there, because it is part of the picture.
Download button missing in your Instagram app?
The Download option only appears on Reels from public accounts where the creator has allowed downloads. Creators can switch it off in their settings. It also does not appear in every country or on every Reel with licensed music. If you do not see it, Fistty still works, because Fistty reads the public link, not the in-app button.
Quality and size: what to pick before you download
A watermark-free file is only half the goal. You also want it to look good. Here is how the common options compare for a typical 30-second Reel.
| Quality | Approximate size (30s Reel) | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p | 15–30 MB | Reposting, editing, watching on a large screen |
| 720p | 8–15 MB | Everyday saving, WhatsApp status, phone viewing |
| 480p or lower | 3–8 MB | Saving data, slow connections |
Fistty can only offer the resolutions Instagram has stored for that Reel. If the creator uploaded in 720p, you will not see a 1080p option, and no tool can invent detail that is not there. For more on getting the sharpest possible copy, read How to Download Instagram Videos in Full HD 1080p.
If you are on mobile data in Nigeria or anywhere else with expensive bundles, pick 720p. It is sharp enough for a phone screen and roughly half the size of 1080p. Switch to Wi-Fi before downloading long Reels or a batch of them.
Device tips for iPhone and Android
Fistty works the same in every browser, but the two phone platforms handle the saved file differently. A few small things make life easier.
On iPhone
Safari puts downloads in the Files app, not the camera roll. To move a Reel to Photos, open Files, go to Downloads, tap the video, tap Share, and tap Save Video. You can also change Safari’s default download location to iCloud Drive or a folder you choose under Settings, then Safari, then Downloads. The full walkthrough is in How to Download Instagram Reels on iPhone.
On Android
Chrome and most other browsers save straight to the Downloads folder, and Gallery picks the file up on its own. If it does not appear, open the Files or My Files app, go to Downloads, and tap the video. Samsung users may see a prompt to choose between Gallery and Google Photos the first time. Reels that will not download
A link from a private account returns an error on every downloader, including Fistty, because the video is only served to approved followers inside the app. Instagram Stories and Reels that have been deleted also return nothing. If a public Reel fails, copy the link again from the Share tray, check that it starts with instagram.com/reel/, and try once more. Our guide Instagram Reels Not Downloading? 8 Fixes covers everything else.
Is it okay to download someone’s Reel?
Saving a public Reel to watch offline, share with a friend, or keep for inspiration is generally fine and is what most people use Fistty for. Posting someone else’s Reel on your own account as if you made it is a different matter. It can break Instagram’s rules and may infringe copyright, and the creator can report it. If you plan to repost, ask the creator first or credit them clearly in the caption. Fistty respects takedown requests through its DMCA page.
Also remember that Fistty never asks for your Instagram password or any login. If a site that calls itself a downloader asks you to sign in with Instagram, close it.
